Lennox and Addington (L&A) OPP have charged a driver with impaired driving after he hit a mailbox and drove through a roundabout.
On October 1, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., L&A OPP officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver who previously had hit a mailbox and had also just driven through the roundabout at County Road 4 and County Road 2. The vehicle had struck signs and shrubs and was now parked on the shoulder of County Road 4. Officers located the vehicle still at the scene. The lone male driver of the vehicle was uninjured and showing signs of impairment. The driver was subsequently arrested.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Gary Goncalves, age 42, of Oakville, Ontario, with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while prohibited
Fail to remain
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on October 24, 2023. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
