There were several witnesses to a scary incident in downtown Belleville Thursday afternoon.
Belleville police say a male, described by several witnesses as wearing yellow headphones, military pants and a black sleeveless shirt, kicked a parked vehicle in an area near the Riverfront trail and left the scene.
When the owner of the vehicle confronted the male, the suspect pulled a hammer and knife from his backpack.
The owner of the vehicle drove away and called police.
The suspect was located and arrested without further incident.
A 43-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with weapons dangerous, mischief and uttering threats.
