It certainly didn’t feel like a typical home game at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens against their Quinte rivals, however, the Trenton Golden Hawks were still good for a 6-2 win over the Wellington Dukes.
It was their first meeting of four and it was played at the Harbour Centre in Buffalo New York as part of the OJHL’s Governor’s Showcase Tournament.
Each of the 24 teams in the OJHL play two games which count in the standings.
Lucas LaPalm scored his 5th and 6th to help Trenton build a 5-0 lead through two periods.
Owen Ireton, Corbin Roach, Noah Smith and Matthew Lee scored singles for the G-Hawks.
Connor Hunt and Cory Jewitt replied for the Dukes.
Trenton and Wellington went 1-1 at the showcase.
The G-Hawks play in their real home Friday night when they host Pickering at the Dunc.
The Dukes are in Markham.
