There were mixed results for local teams after the first day of the OJHL Governor’s Showcase tournament in Buffalo.
Tuesday night the Wellington Dukes outshot Toronto 42-21 and beat the Junior Canadiens 5-3.
Connor Hunt scored twice for Wellington with singles from Zander Latreille, Ethan Quick and Logan Goodwin.
Meanwhile, the Trenton Golden Hawks managed just 15 shots on goal while getting shut out 3-0 by the Collingwood Blues. That was Trenton’s first loss of the season.
These games do count in the standings.
Tonight (Wed) is Game 1 in the “Battle of Quinte” with the Golden Hawks playing host to the Dukes. However, the game won’t be played in Trenton. It will be in Buffalo New York.
