Belleville council is expected to approve the spending of $65,000 to learn more about ways to preserve the city’s and the area’s history at its meeting Monday.
Staff is asking council to approve a bid from international consulting firm Lord Cultural Resources for a Museum Needs feasibility study.
Currently Glanmore House is the only museum owned and operated by the city and it doesn’t have the space to showcase the many artefacts available in the community or to stage the growing number of historical exhibits moving from community to community.
In 2016 community surveys indicated “very strong support” for more facilities with a historical focus.
