During Tuesday’s council meeting, Prince Edward County Council approved the creation of the South Marysburgh Facilities Association to manage community buildings in Milford.
The association will be established as a Municipal Local Board.
Staff have been working with community members to determine who in the community was responsible for what roles at each building, a process that involved digging through a tangle of previous arrangements.
Under the new board, the municipality will take control of the buildings and their maintenance, including safety inspections, with the community group managing day-to-day operations, including scheduling for who uses the spaces.
The motion received unanimous support from councillors.
