A decades-old industry in Trenton is closing down within the next 18 to 24 months.
Quinte News has learned that staff at RR Donnelly, formerly known as Moore Business Forms, were given the bad news in meetings Wednesday.
About 80 people will lose their jobs.
RR Donnelly is in the business of printing business forms and labels. Its parent company is DCM, or Data Communications Management Corp. which has been consolidating its operations in North America.
Mayor of Quinte West Jim Harrison had not yet heard of RRD’s closure saying he hoped the company might reconsider but admitted businesses have every right to do what’s in their best interest.
“Maybe somebody else will come along and make some changes and help resurrect that business.”
RR Donnelly is located on Douglas Road in Trenton.
