Kingston Police say Queen’s University students have shown a trend in “reckless behaviour” as the university year gets underway.
Acting Chief of Kingston Police Scott Fraser says they also showed a “lack of respect” toward the community during the past weekend.
Police say parties held during that time created a “hostile environment for by-law enforcement and other community partners.”
They issued a number of fines involving underage drinking and nuisance parties.
By-law Enforcement reports the following fines and charges:
- Friday Sept. 1 – one Nuisance Party Declaration, 20 x $200 Amplified Sound Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs)
- Saturday Sept. 2 – one Nuisance Party Declaration, 65 x $500 Failure to Leave AMPs, 16 x $200 Amplified Sound AMPs
- Sunday Sept. 3 – two x Nuisance Party Declarations, six x $200 Amplified Sound AMPs
Kingston Police reports the following fines and charges:
- Liquor Licence Control Act: 295 x Open Liquor, 24 x Person Under 19 Consume Alcohol, four x Public Intoxication Arrest/Charges
- Criminal Charges: one Mischief Under $5000
- Highway Traffic Act: nine charges
