“And in late of 2021 county council directed staff to conduct a service delivery review of its planning services. Council wanted to ensure that our services were well-aligned and responsive for our member municipalities.”
Dorey added, “This report was received by council in the spring of 2023 that identified the next step that staff have been working on. Staff have been focussing on this, and coordination of resources, including a project manager. One of the recommendations in that report was looking at the county’s take on planning responsibilities. He pointed out, “So focussing on this report and its recommendations, our priority is for us to work with our member municipalities to identify the next step to ensure that any potential we see reflects the needs of our local municipalities but also that improves services and streamlines the planning services.”
“The first step, as we talked about, is the workshop that is being facilitated by (the consulting firm) KPMG in September.
“This day is a critical part of the process and as the warden spoke to, and I urge you, that all of your council members and your staff that are involved in the planning process but also senior staff, to attend the day.”
