Quinte Labour Council is holding a BBQ and Community Event on Sunday.
President of Quinte Labour Council, Marg Bourgoin says there will be lots to do at the event.
“We’ll have barbecue, snacks, drinks, games for the children, music and some short little messages from different people from different affiliates that will be attending as well and we will have free swag tables,” Bourgoin tells Quinte News.
Bourgoin says they are still finalizing some of the speakers who will chat at the event.
With different labour negotiations taking place, ranging from the nurses to the elementary and high school teachers, Bourgoin says unions are more relevant than ever.
“We’re trying to be active in a lot of ways and just bring awareness to the community so that they know what is going on and they can stand up and actually be well educated for any upcoming federal or provincial elections,” Bourgoin said.
The event takes place at the Parkdale Community Centre on 119 Birch Street in Belleville from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
