The Ontario Junior Hockey League’s 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge is returning to Trenton.
Ten specially selected all-star teams from five Eastern Canadian Jr. A leagues will play in front of scouts November 13-15 at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens in Trenton.
The Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge is being presented by the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), in partnership with the Trenton Golden Hawks, and provides tremendous exposure for the top prospects of the OJHL, Central Canada Hockey League, Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, Quebec Junior Hockey League and the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
Teams from the five leagues will play in front of scouts from all over the hockey world including the NHL, NCAA, CHL and U SPORTS.
The event also serves as a chance for coaching staff for Team Canada East to assess players for the team’s entry into the World Junior A Challenge in December in Truro, N.S.
A total of 23 games will be played using a modified two-period format in round-robin, quarter-final, semifinal and championship games.
The Eastern Canada Cup was last held in Trenton in 2018.
Game and ticket information for the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge will be announced during the coming weeks along with other event details such as sponsors, rosters and coaching staff announcements.
The Bay of Quinte Tourism and City of Quinte West have both supported the event financially and through their marketing departments.
