A tentative agreement has been made between the cleaners at Loyalist College and the employer, Compass Group Canada.
On August 17, the cleaners voted overwhelmingly for a strike after working without a contract since the end of 2022.
Representing the cleaners, Sharon Hamilton said a strike countdown was in place for the Labour Day weekend and the start of the new school year at Loyalist but bargaining talks would be taking place August 22.
She says as a result of those talks, a new tentative agreement is on the table.
Hamilton says the movement towards strike preparations helped to speed up negotiations with Compass.
Members are now arranging a ratification vote Thursday.
