The Association of Municipalities of Ontario is holding their 2023 conference.
The annual event is a chance for mayors of Ontario’s many cities and towns to meet with each other and other government officials.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison is one of many mayors attending this year’s conference. He said that he plans to meet with Dawn Gallagher, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health, to talk about the challenges facing the healthcare system in Quinte West.
“We’re building a place for doctors offices and a place for healthcare workers to hopefully work and help people with their needs,” said Mayor Harrison. “So we’d like to encourage the Provincial Government to help us with some funding there.”
Mayor Harrison has also made plans to speak to officials about infrastructure and housing development.
This year’s conference is being held in London, and started on Sunday. The conference concludes on Wednesday.
