CAR VERSUS SCOOTER
An unidentifed driver faces a fail to yield charge after striking an electric scooter in Belleville’s east end Friday. Fortunately the 70-year-old scooter rider suffered only minor injuries. The collision occurred on Herchimer Avenue in the mid-morning as the scooter was leaving a driveway.
INTIMATE PARTNER ASSAULT
A woman suffered minor injuries during a violent domestic dispute in Belleville’s west end early Sunday evening. Police responded to the residence around 7 o’clock to find the injured woman who reported being assaulted, having a knife thrown at her, and being threatened with death. A 59-year-old Belleville man was charged with intimate partner assault, intimate partner assault with a weapon, and
uttering death threats. He appears in court in September. His name will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
MUDCAT ROAD COLLISION
A single vehicle collision Sunday morning ended with a pickup truck entering a small river and catching fire along Mudcat Road, west of Highway 37. Belleville police say the truck first hit a guard rail near Countrycharm Road shortly after 8 o’clock. Police and the fire department responded and Mudcat Road had to be closed to traffic for about four hours for an investigation. A 19-year-old from Belleville suffered minor injuries. There’s no word on charges.
