The City of Belleville continues to move ahead with the redevelopment of the old fairgrounds site on Bridge Street.
While part of the redevelopment will include a new YMCA and a redeveloped Curling Club, the city plans to develop the rest of the land for residential use and mixed use which would include commercial and residential development.
Early environmental assessment work has determined that volatile organic compounds impacts are only present in a portion of the site so it has been recommended the property be split into two parcels – the future YMCA land and the the Risk Assessment (RA) parcel.
This will hopefully expedite the Record of Site Condition for the YMCA land and get the project going faster.
On Monday, City Council will be asked to approve $185,000 plus HST for Cambium Inc. to complete the Record of Site Condition Services.
Belleville Council meets at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall.
