Several members of the Belleville Bulldogs had a taste of national rugby competition in Calgary over the weekend and have medals to show for it.
The Ontario Under 16 Girls team, which included Picton’s Drew Spencer (PECI), Ava Raymond of Trenton (St. Pauls) and Belleville’s Rachel Gelinas (Marc Garneau) of the Bulldogs, dominated the Western Rugby Championship, culminating in a 14-0 win over British Columbia in the final.
Meanwhile Ontario’s Girls Under 18 squad included five members of the Bulldogs. They are Ryan Fitzgerald, Sydney Woodcock, Kaylee Brooks, Brooke Gallagher and Katie McFaul. They bring home a silver medal after a loss to B.C. in the final.
