Child pornography investigation
A routine investigation into a traffic violation a month ago in Belleville has led to child porn charges.
On July 8 at 2 o’clock in the morning, officers pulled a vehicle over and through their investigation into a traffic violation learned that another person, a young man, could possess images exploiting children.
The Belleville Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit was called in and and several devices were seized and examined.
On August 3, a 19-year-old Belleville man was charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
The man’s name is not being released for investigative purposes. He is not in custody and appears in court September 7.
Arrest on a B&E charge leads to others
Alert Belleville police officers arrested a man on Saturday who was wanted for a business break-in earlier in the week.
Upon arrest the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a small amount of counterfeit Canadian and American currency.
Forty-three-year-old Robert Palin of Belleville faces several charges including breach of probation and appears in court September 7.
