The sale of three more apartment buildings in Trenton to Toronto-based Bedford Properties has sparked
concern by tenants that so called renovictions could occur soon.
The long standing apartment buildings are at 126, 140, and 142 Bay Street near Centennial Park.
There has been no indication renovictions are imminent.
The buildings were sold by Stan Klemencic Builder Limited, the same firm that sold buildings on Sidney Street to Bedford Properties recently where renoviction notices were issued to some of the tenants.
The group fighting those renovictions, Hands off Our Homes Quinte West, said in a statement that it was disappointing that Klemencic Builder Limited sold the buildings while knowing what Bedford was likely to do.
Meanwhile Andy Klemencic says the the deal to sell the Bay Street buildings was signed off on on March 8 and the sale of the Sidney Street buildings was signed off on well before that, while the first renoviction notices were issued to tenants on Sidney Street on March 17.
“We did not have ANY knowledge of Bedford’s intention at the time either agreement was signed.”
Hands off Our Homes says it will fight any proposed renovictions at the Bay Street buildings.
