The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation is hosting a charity golf tournament in support of the Student Emergency Fund.
All golfers are welcome to the August 29 event at Oak Hills Golf Course which aims to raise $35,000.
The Student Emergency Fund provides grants to local students in crisis situations, so that they may be fully engaged in their learning.
Emergency situations are defined as serious, unexpected, and unforeseen circumstances that require immediate action.
A few examples of recent requests from local schools:
“Student has asthma. They have an inhaler but do not have the required inhaler tube. Parents do not currently have funds to purchase one. With current air quality the student needs their inhaler tube for asthma issues.”
“Father of two children passes away earlier this month. Mother and children are homeless and sleeping in a tent in an unsafe environment. Urgent hotel accommodations are needed.”
“Student has cancer. Parents need financial assistance for gas and food while commuting back and forth to Kingston.”
