Prince Edward County Council will not be going forward with a cost assessment for upgrading the roof of the H.J. McFarland Memorial Home.
Councillor Roy Pennell proposed a motion during Tuesday’s council meeting that they have staff make a report on the condition of the building and the potential costs of replacing the damaged roof. Councillor Pennell said it would be a good idea to know how much the roof would cost before time comes for the next budget.
“I’ve asked specifically to have a projection done as far as the roof structure, the shingles, many of them are missing on the roof right now,” said Councillor Pennell. “We’re down to bare plywood in spots.”
The motion failed after brief debate.
