Local 10-pin bowlers are among those heading to Lima, Peru July 30 to August 4 to compete in the PANAM Bowling Youth Championship.
Nicholas Blagojevic of Brighton and Karley Mason of Trenton both made Youth Team Canada at the team trials held this past January. Team trials where held in Montreal, were bowlers had to bowl 24 games and make the top four in the male or female division. Nicholas placed first and it is his fourth time being part of Youth Team Canada and it is Karley’s first year on the team. Nicholas competed last year at the IBF World Youth championship in Helsinborg, Sweden.
The youth team Canada consists of four females and four males.
Nicholas is entering his last (senior) year on a collegiate scholarship for McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, while Karly is entering her third (junior) year, also bowling on a collegiate scholarship for University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
Both bowled out of Quinte Bowl, Belleville and have had much success on the lanes.
The two will compete in teams, singles, doubles and trios events while in Peru.
