Belleville police responded to 417 calls for service between 5 a.m. on June 30, 2023 and 5 a.m. on July 4, 2023.
Motor Vehicle Struck Pedestrian
On June 30, 2023 at 3:56 p.m., police were called to Dundas St. West and Sidney St. regarding a motor vehicle which struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident. The investigation revealed the pedestrian, a 29-year-old male from Belleville was at fault and was subsequently issued an offence notice for failing to cross at a crosswalk.
Police Assistance
On July 2, 2023 at 2:45 a.m., police were called to an apartment building in the east end of Belleville regarding a racoon that had entered a fourth floor apartment window. Upon arrival by police, it became obvious the racoon had no intention of leaving. Police were able to corral the racoon into the hallway and eventually out of the building without further incident.
Driving Offences
On July 3, 2023 shortly after midnight, an officer on general patrol in Thurlow conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver was suspended. Further investigation led the officer to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol and that he was breaching a valid undertaking with a condition of not driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence. The driver was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service. As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Glenn Reed of Belleville was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand, fail to comply with an undertaking, driving while suspended, drive a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device and use plates not authorized for vehicle. Reed was released on an undertaking with a court date in July 2023.
Mischief – Police Seeking Witnesses
On July 2 2023 at 9:48 p.m., Belleville police received numerous calls regarding a large party on Coleman Street with in excess of 100 people in attendance. The party spilled out onto the roadway. Upon police arrival, significant damage was observed to a nearby Coleman Street residence, believed to be caused from those in attendance at the party. Belleville police are seeking witnesses, anyone with video regarding the mischief or anyone with information regarding the identities of those responsible for the mischief.
