Belleville Police responded to an incident of child luring.
On June 20, police were called regarding a 17-year-old female receiving unsolicited inappropriate photos by an older man she had never met in person.
The photos were sent over social media.
It’s alleged that the male began communicating with the girl by saying they had mutual friends and that he found her attractive.
The girl told her parents who then immediately contacted police.
An investigation began with the help of Belleville Police’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
Police were able to identify the male and a warrant was sought for his arrest.
On Thursday around 1:45 p.m., an officer was on general patrol when they located a vehicle associated with the wanted man.
The officer conducted a traffic stop in the west end of Belleville and arrested the man on outstanding warrants.
Thirty-six-year-old David Maracle of Belleville was arrested for child luring, failing to comply with prohibition regarding children, and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 18.
He was held for a bail hearing.
