Doctors and other medical staff in Quinte Health’s four hospitals and at other hospitals in the region will be doing a lot of training over the next year or so.
In September of 2024, a new Regional Health Information System known as Lumeo will go live.
Lumeo will allow physicians to share information regarding patient care and will eventually contain a patient’s entire health journey to be accessed by professionals wherever they are.
Quinte Health’s Chief of Staff Dr. Colin MacPherson says he and his staff will be learning the complex new system soon.
“What it represents from a practical perspective is a big change in how we interact with information, how we enter it in, how we take it out, how we communicate it.”
Lumeo is seen as technology that will greatly improve care and reduce risk.
