Hospitals across the province are facing serious challenges when it comes to staffing over the summer months as medical personnel and others take vacations.
And Quinte Health’s four hospitals are no exception, especially when it comes to always busy and often overburdened emergency departments.
There will be times when emergency departments will have only one doctor on shift and Chief of Staff Doctor Colin MacPherson says it’s a real concern.
“There’s also multiple consulting physicians so hopefully other consulting groups who are aware of the situation can try to schedule themselves to be as timely as possible and support the emerg.”
Quinte Health CEO Stacy Daub and Dr. MacPherson will be updating the public on summer staffing issues and plans on Thursday.
