The following release was sent by the office of MPP David Piccini
Today, MPP David Piccini was joined by Mayors from around Northumberland County at Timber House Resort to announce $99,800 in provincial funding for Community Care Northumberland (CCN). This funding is through the Resilient Communities Fund from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), an agency of the Government of Ontario.
“I’ve had the opportunity to see first hand the incredible work CCN does for our community, so valued by our residents. It is so important that the people of Northumberland have the supports and services they need in our community” said MPP David Piccini. “This funding granted to Community Care Northumberland has given them the stability they need to help provide dignity to many and ensure residents have a well-rounded and well-supported life”.
Volunteer work is so critical to the success of CCN, who will be using this grant to implement a new strategic plan, purchase IT equipment, enable additional staff and volunteer training and support new volunteer recruitment strategies.
“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be overstated,” said Trish Baird, CEO of CCN. “This grant has allowed us to continue to support essential service needs in our community, including Transportation, Meals on Wheels, Wellness, Home Help and Hospice Services to individuals and families in Northumberland County. Through the development of a new Strategic Plan, the Board, employees and volunteers will be guided by a solid plan to assist us moving forward as we come out of a difficult few years impacted by the pandemic, rising cost of service delivery and the changing landscape of volunteerism. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 40 years of granting and building healthy and vibrant communities across the province.”
CCN is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our community through the creation, coordination and delivery of relevant community-based programs and services. There are approximately 5,000 residents of Northumberland that use Community Care Northumberland’s programs and services everyday.
