A record number of volunteers came out to take part in United Way Hastings and Prince Edward’s annual Day of Caring.
263 volunteers from 27 local workplaces completed 46 separate projects at not-for-profits in Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County & Central Hastings.
“This year we were anticipating a similar turnout to 2022, and quickly realized that would not be the case. With a surprising 100 additional volunteers registered to take part, we are so proud to host a record breaking year,” says Jennifer Smith, Director of Community Relations of United Way HPE, in a release.
The projects ranged from landscaping, painting and cleaning to installing a new walkway, deck repairs and robust shelving.
Activities began at 8 a.m. with a kick-off event at Quinte Mall where volunteers were provided snacks and coffee before receiving their team packages and leaving for their community events.
