More and more young people are turning to technology and skilled trades education at local high schools.
A report to the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board shows enrolment in general skilled trades programs such as construction, transportation and manufacturing increased from 255 students in 2016-17 to 335 in 2021-22.
Meanwhile in specialist high skills programming, enrolment went up from 88 students in 2016-17 to 192 in 2021-22.
Seven secondary schools in the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board offer skilled trades courses.
