A report to a Hastings County committee on Wednesday shows the county has service agreements with 29 licensed child care providers.
In 2022 the Canada Wide and Early Learning (CWELCC) System was introduced that mandated a child care fee freeze for eligible children aged 0-5 years.
A child care provider can increase fees charged to parents for children who are not eligible (i.e., school age children over 6 years) for funding under the CWELCC System, or if a child care provider official opted out of participating in CWELCC.
The County monitors and audits rates yearly to ensure providers continue to offer affordable market rates to all families.
Hastings County received requests from six service providers for fee-subsidy rate increases that have been supported, and were incorporated into the 2023 budget.
