The number of building permits issued in Quinte West in the first part of this year is well below last year’s figure, but the value of the builds is higher.
Statistics just released indicate 247 permits issued from January 1 to the end of May, with a value of $73.2 million.
This involved 64 new residential units and 82 other types of residential permits.
There was one permit for a commercial building with a value of $500,000.
Seventeen other commercial building permits were issued at a value of $1.3 million.
There was one permit valued at $21.6 million issued for a new government build, and seven others for government building work.
The statistics for last year show 314 permits issued, for a value of $68 million.
