The Belleville Workplace Inclusion Charter has another member.
The Lloyd Pearce Foundation has signed the document pledging to make a commitment to inclusion in the workplace.
The Foundation is a recently-established charitable organization working with other not-for-profits to help the underprivileged in Hastings Prince Edward Counties.
Lloyd Pearce Foundation founder and Board Chair Marianne Smith says they decided to sign the Charter because it represents so much of what they stand for.
The Foundation currently offers ten paid mental health days for their employees.
In addition, diversity and representation are at the heart of the Foundation’s mission, supporting a diverse group of individuals and organizations in the work they do.
When it comes to next steps for their inclusion goals, the Lloyd Pearce Foundation will be introducing a new program called the Second Chance Program that will help women get back on their feet after leaving abusive situations or being at home with their children.
This program will help educate and prepare women with the necessary tools to either enter the workforce or help them with the next steps in going back to school.
Mayor Neil Ellis joined Marianne Smith and the Lloyd Pearce Foundation staff Monday to congratulate and thank them for their commitment to inclusion in the workplace.
“We are very pleased to have the Lloyd Pearce Foundation on board,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “It’s very exciting to see new businesses putting diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront of their employment process and programming. We encourage all Belleville organizations and businesses to join us in signing the Charter and committing to creating a more welcoming and inclusive Belleville for all.”
