Two people have been charged after a shoplifting investigation.
Quinte West OPP say they responded to a business on Dundas St. East in Trenton around 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers received a report of a theft in progress where a loss prevention officer was assaulted.
An investigation lead to the arrest of two people.
Fifty-three-year-old Robert Gradowski of Etobicoke was charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Theft under $5000 – two counts
- Possession of property obtained by crime
Forty-five-year-old Monika Ciecierska of Etobicoke was charged with the following:
- Assault with intent to resist arrest
- Theft under $5000
- Possession of property obtained by crime
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
