“It’s being provided free of charge to all people with a special focus on medically compromised, elderly, people who are the highest risk for the consequences, like hospitalization or serious illness.”
Gemmill says, “So I would encourage people to take advantage of this. It’s free. You’ve already paid for it through your taxes. You might as well take advantage of it. And stay tuned for what additional programs will be available in the autumn when I fully expect coronavirus will probably have another surge.”
He noted that the vaccine is provided through public health clinics. “I believe on Wednesdays, if not mistaken but just check our website for the exact details on that, and through some pharmacies. So those are two places where people can get effective, safe vaccine at no charge to you.”
“It’s just a good way of continuing to protect yourself, but also, the more people who are immunized, the greater the population-based protection. And that means the virus will have less chance to circulate.
He added, “And while it’s important for an individual to be immunized, it’s also really important for us as a community to be immunized so that we can stop coronavirus from circulating as much as it has in the past.”
