The Belleville Police Service is warning residents of an online fraud now making the rounds in the area.
The scam involves a website claiming it’s from a local vehicle rental company.
Police say a person recently rented a car through the site and made a $400 payment online.
The victim showed up at the rental company only to learn that the car did not exist and the company had no knowledge of the transaction.
Police remind people to phone any rental company to double check whether the item is available before finalizing a deal online.
