A fundraiser is being held for the Food for Learning program next week.
More students than ever before rely on the program. This year alone, Food for Learning programs will provide over a million meals and snacks in local schools.
And with the need and cost of food increasing, Food for Learning is facing an operating deficit for the first time in many years.
Extra funding that was available during the pandemic is no longer available.
An Evening to Nourish is a student benefit auction coming up Friday, June 2 at the Grand in Belleville, with proceeds of the silent auction directly benefitting the purchase of food, supplies and equipment for all student nutrition programs in Hastings and Prince Edward counties
There will be more than 100 auction items to bid on with something for every budget including uniquely themed gift baskets, gift cards, party packages, camping and outdoor fun, a BBQ and more, along with a 50/50 draw and door prize.
There will also be gourmet hors d’oeurves and a signature drink from Crimson Cider Company.
Food for Learning is open to all students as student nutrition programs help students be more engaged in their learning, teaches them lifelong healthy eating habits and provides a sense of belonging to their school community.
