Members of the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron (ATESS) have welcomed the Squadron’s new Chief Warrant Officer at 8 Wing Trenton.
Todd Simser took over from Steve Hough during a Change of Appointment ceremony on May 12.
CWO Simser was born and raised in Dowling, Ontario and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1997as an Infantry Private with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. After finishing training in 1998, he was posted to 2nd Batallion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, in Shilo, Manitoba, where he deployed on Operation PALLADIUM in support of security stabilization efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and on Operation APOLLO in Afghanistan.
In 2003 he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Aviation Technician. Upon graduating from the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering, CWO Simser was posted to 19 Wing Comox, working at 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron. In 2013, he was posted back to Winnipeg, this time to 17 Wing, at the 402 Squadron. Following his departure from 402 Squadron in 2021, CWO Simser was posted to 1 Canadian Air Division into the Air Maintenance Armament Section.
CWO Simser enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife Andrea and their 2 dogs, LiLu and Panco.

· The role of Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron (ATESS) encompasses design, development, and production of aircraft systems and parts, and telecommunications equipment as well as software development support and engineering. ATESS also develops maintenance schedules for aircraft techniques for non-destructive inspection and provides technical training for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Aerospace Telecommunication and Information Systems (ATIS) technicians.
