Dealing with a diagnosis of cancer is a very hard time emotionally for not only patients but their families as well.
And Tuesday at a meeting of the Quinte Health Board of Directors two part time social workers, Krystle Humphrey and Sami Lester, received the Values in Action Award.
Working in the Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic Humphrey and Lester guide patients and families through their journey from diagnosis to end of treatment, providing mental health and emotional supports, and connecting them to resources in the community.
