Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward has received five new benches and a dog house for their new shelter on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road.
Loyalist College students from the Carpentry and Renovation Technician and Community Integration Through Co-operative Education programs built the furniture and then presented the items to the Humane Society on Tuesday.
“As Loyalist works closely with our local organizations and service providers, our students and staff are always there to respond to the needs of our community,” said Loyalist College President and CEO Mark Kirkpatrick. “My heartfelt thanks to our students for creating these wonderful pieces and the faculty who helped bring these projects to life.”
“What a tremendous ‘housewarming’ gift from our new neighbours,” said Marilyn Lawrie, Executive Director of Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward. “We are so thrilled to have these benches and doghouse help complete our new Animal Care and Community Education Centre, and we extend our deepest thanks to Loyalist College students, staff and President Kirkpatrick.”
The five benches were built in the shape of dog bones, and placed around the entrance to the newly constructed shelter. The dog house was placed in the outdoor exercise area, where shelter animals awaiting adoption can enjoy it.
