Quinte West Council has approved a request to hold a military training exercise on Bata Island.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, councillors heard the request by the Department of National Defense to use the southern portion of the island for a small training exercise.
The exercise is planned for less than five people and is intended to take place at the Sills Island Generating Station on the southern tip of Bata Island.
Bata Island is in the Trent River, just north of Frankford.
The training exercise is planned for June 19. The island will be closed to the public for that day.
