Some community partners are once again working together to help children stay safe while riding their bicycles.
For a second year, the Brain Injury Association Quinte District is handing out free bicycle helmets for children.
This year’s event, sponsored by Bonn Law and Doug’s Bicycles, will be held June 10 at the Children’s Safety Village Belleville.
Helmets will range from extra small and up for kids and will be available for kids of all ages.
Experts from BIAQD will be on hand to help with fitting helmets, which will be provided on a first come first served basis.
The BIAQD says extra small helmets are particularly good for protecting toddlers learning to walk and get around while instilling in them the value of wearing helmets.
Last year’s helmet giveaway was a tremendous success with more than 150 helmets distributed in less than two hours.
This year’s event will run from 9 a.m. until noon or until all helmets have been given out.
The Village is located at 129 South John Street in Belleville; parking is available behind the old police station off George Street with access to the Village off the parking lot being open.
