The City of Quinte West has launched an updated Emergency Preparedness Guide as part of Emergency Preparedness Week.
The new guide contains steps you can take during different emergencies, such as weather events and power outages, checklists of the supplies you need to build your emergency kits as well as a template to create your home escape plan and contact information for local and national resources.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan says there is no better time than Emergency Preparedness Week to begin planning for emergency situations.
Mayor Jim Harrison says, “We urge residents to read the updated guide, make a plan and create their emergency kits. These simple steps can make a big difference when an emergency hits.”
The City of Quinte West encourages residents to take the following steps this Emergency Preparedness Week:
Create a kit with everything you will need for 72 hours.
Make a home escape plan and choose a common place to meet if you must leave your home.
Prepare for the needs of everyone in your home, such as seniors and pets.
