There has been another successful weekend for Belleville Spirits basketball as the U16 Girls won gold in Division 1 at the Ontario Cup in Ottawa.
With Division 1 just below the Premier OBLX tier, the win makes them ninth overall provincially.
Coached by Gord DeVries and Assistant Rachel Clarke, the team dropped their first game of the tournament before going on to win the next three games, including a 41 – 36 victory over the Barrie Royals for the championship.
It’s the second gold in as many weeks for a Spirits team as the U14 Girls won Division 5 Gold in Niagara Falls earlier this month.
