The Belleville Bulldogs senior mens rugby team opened their Toronto Rugby Union season with a 35-30 exhibition loss to the visiting Ajax Wanderers.
The game was held at Pat Carty Field at Centennial Secondary School. Brandon MacKinnon and Dan Svoboda each counted two tries for Belleville. James Flemming and Eddie Keuning also scored.
The senior mens Bulldogs will compete in the the B Division of the Toronto Rugby Union this season.
The Bulldogs recently named former Canadian International rugby player Karl Svoboda as their head coach.
Svoboda is a member of the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame after playing ten seasons with the Canadian Men’s National Team. He recently returned to the Quinte area after a lengthy teaching career in Whitby.
