Quinte West OPP say a traffic complaint has lead to the recovery of a vehicle that was fraudulently purchased.
Police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 401 on April 29 around 7 p.m.
Upon examining the registration and purchasing documents, it was determined that the vehicle was purchased recently through fraudulent means.
An investigation lead to the arrest of two people, 45-year-old Luigi Marrese of Toronto and 41-year-old Marie Delaperelle of Toronto.
Forty-five-year-old Luigi Marrese of Toronto was charged with the following:
- Fraud Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Possession of a Forged Document with Intent
- Personation with Intent to Obtain Property (Identity Fraud)
- Driving While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act
41-year-old Marie Delaperelle of Toronto was charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 25, 2023.
