The Belleville Spirits Under 14 girls basketball team closed out their season on a high.
They won the gold medal at the Ontario Cup championship this weekend in Niagara Falls.
The Spirits were 3-0 in pool play and followed up with a 41-30 victory over Kingston to advance to the final against Flamborough.
Belleville trailed 22-13 at the half but more than made up for the deficit with a 20 point third quarter and went on to a 38-35 win in the gold medal game.
