Belleville police responded to 75 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on April 18, 2023 to 5 a.m. on April 19, 2023.
Fraud
On April 18, 2023 shortly before 7 p.m., officers were called to an east end apartment building for a report of a fraud.
Earlier in the afternoon an unknown male contacted an elderly female indicating he was a police officer and needed a large sum of money to get her grandson out of jail. The male attended the complainant’s apartment and received a large sum of money.
Investigators have collected video and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
He is described as a male between 25 to 35 years of age, 5’4” to 5’6” tall, slim build, black hair, darker skin and wearing dark clothes.
