A Belleville councillor is not impressed with serious vandalism done to the Pirate Ship park located at West Riverside Park on the shores of the Moira River recently.
Sean Kelly said he’d been walking in the park Easter Monday and saw it packed with kids and families enjoying themselves but called out “the thugs” who sprayed vulgar grafitti on the Pirate Ship display later on.
The Pirate Ship park will be closed until sometime Wednesday to allow public works staff to clean it up.
Meanwhile councillor Lisa Anne Chatten said if people see something wrong, calling the police is a good idea but there is another way.
“Instead of going directly to police you also have the option of going to Crimestoppersquinte.ca and submitting information on things that you find out or you know or that you’ve seen.”
