Belleville council will decide whether or not to buy about 20 standardized temporary street patios and parklets at its meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The standard patios, manufactured by Pop Up Street Patios Inc., would be installed in the Downtown District from May 1 until October 31 when they will be removed and stored away by the city.
Staff is recommending the standardized street patios, which meet and surpass all building code requirements, be bought for a cost to the city of almost $490,000. A federal grant will pay just over $439,000 of that cost.
The patios would be leased to downtown businesses each season at a cost of of $450 for a small one, $550 for a medium sized patio, and $650 for a large one.
Pop Up Street Patios Inc. supplies many communities including Quinte West and Prince Edward County.
Belleville council meets at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. The meeting can be viewed live here.
