The Mayor of Tweed appreciates the provincial government’s financial help to clean up after devastating wind storms ripped through the area in July of last year however he says it’s not enough to finish the job.
Mayor Don DeGenova says it’s estimated the cost of clearing fallen trees and blocked waterways is around $2.7 million.
The province granted Tweed just over $1.2 million recently. Lesser amounts went to Centre Hastings and Marmora and Lake.
DeGenova says blockages in rivers could cause flooding on Highways 37 and 7.
