The City of Belleville’s Planning Committee has asked staff to provide a recommendation report on a proposed development to create a 55+ seniors community on vacant land on the southeast corner of Sidney Street and Bell Boulevard.
The proposal from Choice Properties Limited Partnership calls for a four-storey apartment building with 74 residential units orientated towards Bell Boulevard.
A health club, bar and restaurant on the ground floor of the apartment building is also being proposed.
In addition, the proposal calls for 89 residential townhouse dwellings behind the mixed-use building fronting on Sidney Street.
This would be a total of 163 planned dwelling units targeted to create a community of 55+ seniors.
The remaining land not part of the proposal would be used for commercial development.
Nautical Lands Group is the developer of the project.
When asked about how long construction would take if the proposal was approved, VP of Development for Nautical Lands Group, Peter Gregor, says it would take an estimated 15 months to complete construction.
A report will be prepared for a future committee meeting.
